IT WAS WITH ASTONISHMENT THAT I READ THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE ON AN UPCOMING NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SPECIAL THAT WAS FEATURED ON SABC ON 27TH MARCH 2005. This episode "the quest for the Rainbow Serpent" joins world renowned herpetologist, Dr. Bruce Means, in Australia in his search for a legendary snake known as the Rainbow Serpent.
AS A CHILD I HAD THIS VERY 'PART VISION, PART DREAM'AND UNTIL READING THE ABOVE ARTICLE HAD NO IDEA OF ITS PSYCHIC IMPORT BEYOND MY OWN INTUITIVE DRIVE. My paintings reflected an obsession with the image of the snake as a symbol of the psychic disturbance of apartheid. Reading the above suddenly slotted into a missing 'key' relating to this obsession and I am more convinced than ever of the'exactitude' of my intuitive interpretation and expression. THIS PAINTING, "Reaching Alignment" PAINTED IN 1988 IS TESTAMENT TO MY INTEGRITY AND PERCEPTION AS AN ARTIST. |
